Why bringing BAWB to Ceará?
Regional discrepancies have already been
a central part in national debates and in the search for public policies to reduce the existing ?apartheid? between wealthy
and poor States from the economic, social, cultural and technological standpoint. In the case of a continental country like Brazil, besides the re-definition of its insertion in the world scenario
it has become more and more evident that it is a must to fight internal inequalities and approach diversity as an essential
asset of the development model. This necessarily leads us to policies structured around an axel of innovative undertakings
relying on the commitment of several social and political powers of their regions.
Less developed regions of the country need to renew their competition bases
and enhance their growing potential as well as their productivity, reinforcing social cohesion and investing on knowledge,
innovation and the valuing of human capital.
For companies from the Northeast to become effectively competitive in both national
and international markets, it is necessary to establish a policy capable of fostering the necessary local competition so as
to promote development without violating natural characteristics, while introducing dynamism to the local and regional economic
scenario with a focus on social benefits.
Thus, the Conference intends to introduce experiences occurred in the Northeast Region, developed and/or supported by companies, that contributed to improve quality of life of
those inserted communities and that can be multiplied in other States of the Northeast, generating shared learning of new
forms of cooperative undertakings, aimed at social welfare and a better society.
It then intends to show successful undertakings of companies from the Northeast
which, through their actions, generated profit and promoted the sustainable development of the Region through cooperation
practices involving autonomous agents from several social spheres, moved by the awareness of their co-responsibility in the
development process of the communities where they participate.
